Music and film critic Atsushi Sasaki created this label. Each album released on Unknownmix met one of two sets of criteria: it was the debut work of an excellent new musician or group whose music had not yet received the public attention it deserved; or it was the work of an established musician or group, but focused on an as yet unrecognized aspect of their music. Any style or genre was considered, as long as the music met these criteria.
The label is no longer active, because Creativeman Disc., which manufactured and distributed its CDs, discontinued it in 1998.
