Improvised Music from Japan / Independent Labels in Japan
Action Cassette
This is a subsidiary label of Innocent Records (formerly Zenbei Record), created by guitarist Uchihashi Kazuhisa. In 1995 he started New Music Action, a free improvisation workshop for young musicians, at Big Apple in Kobe. New Music Action was held on a regular basis mainly in Kobe, and also in Sapporo under the direction of pianist Ryoji Hojito; and Tokyo under the direction of Uchihashi. The label's cassette tapes include recorded live performances by young musicians at the New Music Action workshop.
